CLAAS Group Contracts IT Service Provider NIONEX
Nionex GmbH is installing a corporate-wide content management system based on CoreMedia for the CLAAS Group.
One of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative agricultural technology, the CLAAS Group,
has contracted Nionex with the installation of a CoreMedia content management system. CLAAS’
successful business segments include combine harvesters, forage harvesters, tractors and
agricultural harvesting machinery. The global operator is pursuing a corporate-wide content
management strategy to optimise its business processes.
As a start, Nionex is implementing an information portal for employees of the CLAAS Group, as
well as an extranet for sales. These web-based information services will provide the international
corporation with an integrated information network and simplify its communications with various
target groups. By supplying up-to-date information on the entire process chain, collaboration
between product development, supplier companies, production, sales, marketing and service will
become more transparent, thus automatically boosting productivity and optimising costs.
The system’s concept is based on a virtual content pool that merges contents from different
operative backend systems such as SAP, product catalogues, technical documentation and image
databases. Data exchange is automatic via XML interfaces. The contents are supplemented by
documents and web pages that are centrally administered in and circulated via the CMS. A
comfortable browser-based editorial system is used, which Nionex developed based on the CoreMedia
web app Framework. Other basic functions include user administration via an LDAP server,
group-based customisation, full-text search, newsletter delivery and a download archive. “With this
new system, we were able to develop a solution for CLAAS that is exactly tailored to the particular
needs of the company,” says Christian Weber, Project Manager at Nionex. “The platform character of
CoreMedia provides the customer a universal solution that can be successively further developed.”
In the future, information services will be incrementally expanded and new applications will
be created. Thanks to the media-neutral data administration via different output channels, CLAAS’
extensive range of information is accessible on a central information platform. Up-to-date offers
and services from the areas of sales, marketing and customer service will be accessible around the
clock from anywhere on the net or with mobile technologies.
