Munich / Guetersloh, 22 November 2002 – Nionex, the all-round service for customized portal and content management solutions was asked by the Wissen|Media.Group to re-design all of their publishing houses' Internet homesites. The company, which is a part of arvato Bertelsmann AG, has mobilized its partner Tridion for the project. In the wake of restructuring, Nionex is implementing content management infrastructure on the basis of the Tridion solution throughout the group. This will enable the editors to maintain their sites themselves. The websites include such well-known names as the Wissen|Media.Verlag (formerly Bertelsmann Lexikon Verlag), Chronik Verlag, Verlagshaus Stuttgart and Wahrig.
The Wissen|Media.Group wants to strengthen its online presence, to improve communication via the Internet and, at the same time, reduce the maintenance costs of the websites. The group places importance in keeping a uniform structure of the websites, yet the individual design of each of the brands or single companies within the group should be apparent. The project can profit from Nionex's expert knowledge in the field of cross media publishing and system integration. The implementation of a content management system is nothing new for Nionex, although it is a new field for Tridion.
Tridion won the bid because their content management solution is fully based on XML technology, has a very low total cost of ownership (TCO)and has a user interface that is extremely easy to use.
"The Tridion system, especially the Tridion R5 Content Manager, offers very good potential for us to combine our know-how and our solutions in cross media publishing, i.e. experience in the print sector, with the advantages the software has to offer. Our extensive experience in content management, as well as in the cross media publishing sector can be effectively put to use in this project," explains Horst Gosewehr, managing director of Nionex GmbH. "Our CMS solution, which was specially developed for publishing companies, has been licensed in Germany and Italy; this project builds on our expertise in the publishing business."
"Fast, inexpensive implementation, low cost of ownership, as well as scalability and future security are increasingly becoming the decisive factors for companies who want to work together with us," says Vincenzo Favuzzi, director of strategic alliances, Tridion GmbH. "In our Tridion R5 we have an efficient content management system that gives the customer long-term management, accessibility, and control of critical corporate contents over various web initiatives."
