Nionex and ADAC Verlag Expand on Collaboration
Nionex prepares contents from ADAC Verlag for Multimedia Use in Online Segment
Gütersloh, 18 December 2002 – Nionex, the specialist for content management systems and portal solutions and a subsidiary of the Wissen Media Group (arvato Bertelsmann AG), has integrated all ADAC travel guides in its self-developed content management solution “BeCoM” for use in electronic media such as Internet, CD-ROMs or PDAs. In the first phase, contents were uploaded to the knowledge portal www.wissen.de and the publisher’s own ADAC online site. CD-ROM or PDA publishing and the syndication of contents is also another option that was made available.
The technical fundament of the content management solution is a custom-tailored editorial and publication system based on the CMS software SigmaLink from empolis. The solution developed by Nionex manages the contents from the ADAC travel guides in a networked, media-neutral XML substance pool. The advantage for ADAC Verlag: all contents such as texts, images or illustrations can be continually and inexpensively updated. On the one hand, the content management solution always ensures an updated version in the electronic media – especially on the Internet – and on the other hand, it makes it possible to further process the contents for specific print media products.
Apart from this project, ADAC Verlag has already chosen Nionex as its collaborative partner for some other ventures. Nionex has been entrusted with e.g. the hosting of ADAC Verlag’s website (adac-verlag-gmbh.de) and the ADAC Ski Guide (adac-skiguide.de). “ADAC Verlag is market partner that has not only recognised the chances that lie in the preparation of highquality contents for multimedia use, but also uses these chances consequentially and strategically,” says Horst Gosewehr, Managing Director of Nionex GmbH.
