CLAAS Re-launches Online Shop with NIONEX
Gütersloh/Rheda-Wiedenbrück, 25 January 2007 – From clothing, toys, miniature models or DVDs, fans of farming equipment will find everything their hearts desire in the CLAAS online shop. The globally operating manufacturer of agricultural equipment re-launched its Internet presence late last year and its newly designed shop went live.
The fan shop is managed by the enterprise-wide content management system, CoreMedia. Nionex had already created a central content pool for CLAAS within an overall content management strategy to manage all of the comprehensive product information of the agricultural technology manufacturer in a media-neutral manner on one central information platform.
In such, not only are media data controlled via the CoreMedia CMS, but also the prices for the
shop application itself.
“With the new solution for CLAAS, we have created a gateway between corporate-wide content
management and the shop,” says Stefan Blömer, manger of portal solutions at Nionex GmbH. The media
images are automatically and dynamically converted for the shop. This way they only have to be
uploaded to the CMS once. The software converts the image to the desired format, making publication
significantly faster and easier. The international company not only offers CLAAS items to its
German customers, but has also launched an English and French version of its shop for international
markets.
The open source software Ofbiz, which is based on a J2EE architecture, provides the fundament
for the shop. By using Java technologies, this solution is particularly flexible, open and
sustainable. The fast and easy implementation of the shop software is also a definite advantage.
