Always Up-to-Date – Miele Design Centre Trusts in IT Support from Nionex
Gütersloh, Rheda-Wiedenbrück; 13 September 2007 – The implementation of a cross-product user
interface strategy is an essential, yet complex process—especially for a global player like Miele
Cie. KG. With the help of such a strategy, the company is making significant steps towards more
usability: Miele domestic appliances can be quickly grasped and operated. Nionex has provided
Miele Cie. KG with an IT solution for process simplification and optimisation.
Miele products are becoming more and more intelligent and allow for an increasing degree of
interaction with users. For coherent user guidance and the consequent continuance of the corporate
design, it is therefore vital to pursue a cross-product user interface strategy. Various divisions
at Miele are involved in this development process, which ultimately leads to an intensive approval
process.
In order to support precisely this process, the IT service provider Nionex has developed a
system for Miele Cie. KG which offers a high degree of support for the co-work between the
marketing, development and design departments. Within three months, Nionex completed a content
management system with an intradepartmental work platform based on the open source software Zope
Plone.
Those involved in the product development process now always have access to all the relevant
information on the development of user interfaces. The authorisation management already in use at
the company was imported into the new system with ease. The latest release statuses can be
retrieved centrally through a personalised gateway. This prevents the use of outdated
versions.
Information on upgrades is automatically sent out via email to all those in charge. Through a
comfortable search feature, staff can quickly navigate to their destination. “We were able to
provide Miele with a system that is easy to use and makes the teamwork within the company much more
efficient and error-free,” says Guido Reumann, project manager at Nionex GmbH.
