Employee Testimonials
Beate Sohrmann,
Born in 1971, works for Nionex as a Senior Application Engineer
What educational background do you have?
After my school career, I studied at the vocational academy in Mannheim in
affiliation with Daimler Chrysler. In 1993, I earned my degree as a computer engineer.
What did you do before you joined the team at Nionex?
Right after earning my degree, I worked for a few different companies in Mannheim as an
application developer and project manager. But the possibility of working in my hometown for an
international company like Bertelsmann was really convincing, so I came back.
What do you like about Nionex?
As a mother of two, it’s really important for me to be able to flexibly plan my working
hours. Nionex gave me the chance to jump right into work again after my pregnancy. As a part-time
employee today, I am still involved in our projects and my tasks are as challenging as ever.
What makes Nionex so special?
For me, Nionex combines the advantages of a relatively small-sized enterprise
characterised by a pleasant, personal working atmosphere and good networking, with the advantages
of a large corporation that offers its employees everything from a company pension plan to advanced
training and physical fitness activities.
Matthias Coppola,
Born in 1972, works for Nionex as a Project Manager and SAP Basis Team
Leader
What educational background do you have?
I studied commercial information technology at the University of Paderborn.
What did you do before you joined Nionex?
During my studies I worked as a student trainee for gedas AG, an internal IT
service provider of the Volkswagen AG. For five whole years, I was able to gain practical
experience in the area of mainframes and SAP. Right after graduation, I accepted a position as a
system planner with Audi in Ingolstadt. Upon returning to Paderborn, I worked for Siemens Business
Services as a senior system engineer and senior process consultant.
How did you wind up at Nionex?
That was purely coincidental. I was surfing the Bertelsmann career page and
stumbled upon my current position. It was perfectly suited to my skills. The rest went very
quickly.
What do you like about Nionex?
Particularly noteworthy are the good and challenging projects in which the staff is able to
quickly put its ideas into action. And with quite a lot of personal responsibility, too. Of course,
the pleasant working atmosphere should also be mentioned. It’s not only created by employees, but
also by the executive staff.
What makes Nionex so special?
Work is done very effectively at Nionex because we have the ability to make decisions very
quickly and we put a lot of trust in our staff. This contributes to the overall pleasure and
motivation derived from the work.
